Why You Need A Qualified Electrician
One of the things that happen over time is for the wire’s insulation to harden, causing it to break away from the wire. This causes circuits that become exposed and dangerous. It can even be fatal. Your electrician, little kids, and even animals are in grave danger of touching a live wire, so we cannot stress enough the importance of bringing your home’s electrical wiring up to today’s code! If you have any doubt at all as to how old things are, get a licensed electrician to come take a look and replace anything that looks outdated. Over the years, we have seen numerous animals in attics and crawl spaces dead from electric shock from exposed wires. When homes first began being wired for electricity, the standard practice was bare wires with insulated knobs. Neutral wires didn’t exist yet, so the whole process kind of worked similarly to the battery in your car. Today, with all our gadgets, TV’s, computers and other appliances, lots of extra grounding is used to make things safe. For each 120 volt circuit, your electrician will use a neutral wire. It was common for electricians to utilize shared neutral wires when dealing with lots of circuits. If you are in an older home or renovating and you do not make sure this system is upgraded, then you will be setting the home up for a much higher potential for fire. In order to prevent problems such as a blackout, lightning strikes or power surges, most inspectors will require a new home to have two ground rods for each type of service. Please don’t fall into the trap of trying to cut corners and save money by neglecting to upgrade your home’s electrical wiring. Things wear out over time, including switches, plates, receptacles, etc. It’s not worth the danger it would put you in. As a rule of thumb, you should have these types of devices replaced every 10-12 years. Remember that the receptacles and switches used even 20 years ago are not nearly as safe as the ones used today! It’s a natural progression of technology that we are always getting better and safer ways to wire our homes. Any electrician knows this and should be able to tell you what you need to get the safest system possible. Don’t put your family’s safety in jeopardy with outdated wiring.Let us help you have peace of mind about your electrical system in your home call Myrtle Beach Electrician Pros.
